Bela Vista Coliving & Retreat has been in our family since 1942, when it was purchased from the Vicentinho family during World War II. The name continues to hold great significance and remains an integral part of the property's identity today. In 2019, I, Sara, reimagined Bela Vista Coliving & Retreat, transforming it into a vibrant community that celebrates both its rich history and its evolving role as a haven for modern travelers. In 2020, we shifted our focus to cater to the digital nomad community, making it our core market.

Much of the restoration is done by hand, with my mother, Margarida, playing a central role in reviving antique furniture, which you’ll find throughout the houses and outdoor spaces. She is also a passionate chef, often using our wood oven to create local delicacies for special events, dinners, and gatherings. Margarida takes great pride in maintaining our lush garden, nurturing it with her green thumb.

At Bela Vista Coliving & Retreat, my goal is to foster a thriving community for digital nomads, wellness enthusiasts, and travelers seeking connection and inspiration. With dedicated workspaces, fast internet, and a peaceful environment, Bela Vista Coliving & Retreat is the ideal place for anyone looking to blend work with leisure in the stunning Algarve. We also offer self-improvement and personal development retreats, providing workstations designed to help guests grow both professionally and personally. Through events, shared experiences, and a welcoming atmosphere, Bela Vista Coliving & Retreat has become a space where people come together, recharge, and feel truly at home.

Sustainability is central to our vision. We collect rainwater during the winter to nourish our garden in the summer, currently meeting around 60% of our needs, with plans to expand. Our orange, lemon, almond, and olive trees, along with a variety of flowers and plants, create a lush, self-sustaining landscape. The houses run on solar-heated water, and by 2025, we aim to generate nearly 100% of our electricity through solar power, moving towards full self-sufficiency. We also upcycle and recycle as much as possible, giving new life to old furniture and materials.
